Welcome to St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Pampa, Texas! We are delighted that you stopped by our site. We hope that your visit to our site will not only be a helpful resource of information but that it will also be a source of encouragement and inspiration as you explore our online resources and sample our audio clips of live worship music recorded each week at our 9:30 AM service.
Experience the beauty of the congregation of St. Matthew's in worship as you listen to the excerpts of music available in "The Sounds of St. Matthew's" section. And then experience the beauty of worship first hand by attending one of our Sunday morning worship services at 8:00 AM (no music or choir at early service) or 9:30 AM.
There was a fairly good turnout of dedicated parishioners and three guests at the Annual Meeting on January 29. We reviewed the past year and took a peek at what’s coming down the road in 2012. Jack Curtis presented a challenging budget that will be a stretch to meet. But St. Matthew’s folks always have a way of getting things done. Where there is any need, it gets met. Elections were held for Vestry, Day School Board, and Diocesan Convention Delegates:
Vestry – Mary Cruz, Jan Ragsdale, Karon Bonnell Senior Warden-Karen Lang Junior Warden-Gary Niccum (again!) Day School Board – Charles Smith and Mary Niccum Delegates to Diocesan Convention-Natalie Reeve and Jennifer Plunk (Alternates are John McGarr and Cindy Theis)
The ECW Silent Auction was a lot of fun and raised $911. Many thanks to all who donated devotional books, note cards, pottery, paintings, aprons, mittens, figurines, coffee sets and pies, cakes, cookies, peanut brittle, brownies, jam and heavenly homemade bread! I finally bid enough this year to win a loaf of real live bread made at home with loving hands AND a plate of Cindy Theis’s chocolate chip cookies! Oh rapture!
Advent Class Continues Sunday February 12th, 2012 9:15 AM - Parish Hall
"A Thrill of Hope"...The Christmas Story in Word and Art
A Thrill of Hope: The Christmas Story in Word and Artwill continue on Sunday, February 12th, 2012. The class continues through the season of Epiphany. The Christmas passages in Luke and Matthew are illustrated by John August Swanson with commentary by members of Candler University faculty.
Discussion follows each presentation. This is a lovely way to enjoy the beauty of this season and reflect on the power of story. Older children may find this interesting.
